Indulge in the legendary splendor of this opulent Cultured Golden South Sea pearl 14K pendant. This pendant features a large golden South Sea drop pearl hanging from polished and satin gold leaves. The pendant comes with an 18" fine rope chain. For years, the standard size for pearls was 5-6mm, with 7-8mm pearls considered large. Starting in the late 1950's larger pearls of 10-12mm were grown in large white and yellow lipped oysters on the farms of Burma and Australia, and farms in Indonesia and the Philippines later began doing the same. South Sea pearls have a subtle rather than strident beauty. The best of these pearls have a satiny luster. A small minority of the cream colored pearls , like this one, have such a strong yellow tint that they are classified as "Golden Pearls".
